A.B. May Heating, A/C, Plumbing & Electrical is seeking a Lead HVAC Installer to join our family‑operated team in Kansas City, MO. You will install air conditioners, furnaces, ducts, heat pumps, and accessories while leading a crew and staying in close contact with customers throughout the project.

We value safety, quality, and exceptional customer service. If you have 3+ years of lead experience and EPA/NATE certification, you’ll help ensure reliable comfort for homeowners while mentoring

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of Lead HVAC Installer experience.
• EPA or NATE HVAC certification preferred.
• Clean driving record.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to lead and train installers and apprentices.

Responsibilities

Overview

Our Lead HVAC Installers are responsible for successfully installing air conditioners, furnaces, duct systems, heat pumps, and accessories (air filters, thermostats, etc.) for A.B. May’s residential customers. This includes applying technical expertise, leading a team, and maintaining strong communication with customers throughout the installation process. All of our technicians must follow our safety policies and procedures and uphold our high standards of quality. Candidates must have at least three or more years of Lead Install experience and a proven ability to meet and exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Successfully install air conditioners, furnaces, duct systems, heat pumps, and accessories for residential customers.
• Supervise, mentor, and train HVAC installers and apprentices, ensuring high‑quality and efficient installation of HVAC systems.
• Maintain clear and ongoing communication with customers throughout the installation process, ensuring satisfaction and answering questions as needed.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures during installations and ensure adherence to local building codes and regulations.
• Test and inspect HVAC systems after installation to ensure they function properly.
• Address any issues that arise during installation or testing, providing solutions and adjustments as needed.
• Ensure that all tools and equipment are in working order and well‑maintained.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work in tight spaces, including climbing ladders and bending to access equipment.
• Ability to stand for long periods while working.
• Ability to kneel or crawl to install systems or access hard‑to‑reach areas.
• Good hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Lead HVAC Installer.
• Proficiency in installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining HVAC systems.
• HVAC certification and/or relevant technical training (EPA Certification, NATE certification, etc.).
• Clean driving record required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to exceed customer expectations by providing excellent service and fostering positive relationships.
• Ability to lead and work with a team to ensure high‑quality installations.
