Job summary

PremiStar in Itasca, IL is seeking a Journeyman HVAC Technician to install and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including boilers, chillers, pumps, and hydronic systems. You will test performance, troubleshoot, diagnose issues, and provide customer recommendations while ensuring safety and code compliance.

The role requires a high school diploma with 5 years HVAC experience; strong diagnostic skills, familiarity with blueprints, and problem-solving abilities are

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years of HVAC operation/maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, installation techniques, electrical circuits and wiring, motor principles, and local electrical codes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, evaluate, and troubleshoot equipment and controls to ensure safe operation and lifecycle performance.
• Perform routine repairs to pump seals, bearings, etc.
• Inspect and test systems to verify compliance and locate malfunctions.
• Discuss heating-cooling system issues with customers to identify problems.
• Maintain safety and a clean work area per procedures.
• Record and report faults, deficiencies, and time/materials on work orders.
• Test joints for leaks and adjust system controls per manufacturer recommendations.
• Install and service auxiliary components and thermostats, humidistats, and timers.
