The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking an Instrument & Control Mechanic to read blueprints, install, calibrate and test HVAC control systems, and document performance of energy-management equipment across campus.

You will work with pneumatic, electrical and direct-digital controls, evaluate test data, develop control strategies, and support energy-efficiency projects for building systems during daytime shifts on site.

Qualifikationen

• Graduate from an approved accredited post-secondary two (2) year vocational or technical school in Electronic, Electrical, or HVAC.
• Four (4) years experience in building automation, electronic or industrial controls required.
• A driver’s license valid in the state of Alabama may be required based on departmental need.

Aufgaben

• Install, test, calibrate and troubleshoot control systems (analog/digital) and meters.
• Rebuild/repair control devices and components.
• Evaluate HVAC energy systems and recommend repairs or retrofits.
• Document HVAC system specs and performance values (CFM, velocity, pressure, voltage, watts, etc.).
• Test meters and sensors; develop control strategies for replacements or new systems.
• Identify energy-efficiency improvements in controlled processes.
• Develop Energy Management System applications and Direct Digital control programs.
• Modify control software and document systems with CAD/D drafting tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
