Job summary

Fortis College Houston South is seeking an experienced HVAC/R professional to join its faculty as a part-time instructor. The role focuses on teaching HVAC/R courses, guiding students, and supporting program activities under the Dean of Education.

Candidates should have HVAC/R credentials (certificate or diploma), EPA Universal, TX HVAC certification, and at least three years of field experience. Teaching experience in higher education is preferred; strong communication and organization are

Qualifications

• Completion of an HVAC/R program resulting in a certificate or diploma.
• EPA Universal certification is required or to be obtained.
• TX HVAC Certified Technician credential is required.
• HVAC Journeyman and NATE certifications are desired but not required.
• At least three years of HVAC/R Technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach HVAC/R courses to students in the program.
• Provide academic advising to students.
• Participate in department meetings and graduation activities.

Job Description

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic faculty member to teach in our HVAC program. This is a part-time, professional position reporting directly to the Dean of Education. The primary responsibility will be to teach HVAC/R courses. Applicants will also be expected to provide academic advising to students, and participate in department training, meetings, and graduation.

Requirements

• Completion of an HVAC/R program resulting in a Certificate of Completion or a Diploma; an associate degree is preferred but not required

• Certification:
  • EPA Universal
  • TX HVAC Certified Technician
  • HVAC Journeyman desired but not required
  • NATE Certification desired but not required

• At least three years of experience as an HVAC/R Technician

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Highly organized, motivated, and results-driven

• Prior higher education/postsecondary teaching experience preferred
