Role Description

The HVAC Instructor (63707) is a full-time, on-site role located in Glenmont, NY, responsible for delivering hands-on and classroom instruction in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and related systems. Day-to-day tasks include planning and teaching lessons aligned with program requirements, demonstrating proper use of tools and equipment, and guiding participants through safe installation, maintenance, and repair procedures. The instructor develops and updates curriculum materials, evaluates learner performance, and provides coaching and feedback to support skill mastery and employability. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a safe training environment, documenting progress, collaborating with other instructional staff, and supporting job readiness activities such as certifications and industry standards awareness.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated technical proficiency in HVAC systems, with working knowledge of Plumbing or related building trades.
• Experience in Training and Teaching, including the ability to instruct diverse learners and adapt methods to different skill levels.
• Ability to perform Curriculum Development for vocational programs, designing lesson plans, labs, and assessments that meet industry and program standards.
• Previous experience in a trade school, apprenticeship program, or Job Corps environment is beneficial.
• Relevant industry certifications and/or licensure in HVAC and plumbing are strongly preferred.
• Strong communication, classroom management, and mentoring skills, with a commitment to safety and learner success.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced technical training or postsecondary education in HVAC or a related field is an advantage.
