Aerotek is hiring an HVAC Installer for contract-to-hire work in Flemington, NJ. You will install duct systems, perform sheet metal work, and assist with piping while following safety standards and project specs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install HVAC duct systems and layout ductwork and sheet metal components.
• Assist with mechanical piping installation (copper, steel, PVC, ProPress) using brazing and threading.
• Support equipment placement and setting, including hangers and vibration isolation.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, risers, and isometrics to complete installations.
• Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting on airflow, leaks, and alignment.
• Follow OSHA safety protocols including lockout/tagout and confined space rules.
• Install and assist with basic HVAC controls (thermostats, low-voltage wiring, sensors).
• Use sheet metal tools and piping equipment to complete daily tasks.
• Operate scissor lifts and boom lifts to access work areas.
• Collaborate with senior mechanics, foremen, plumbers, electricians, and project managers.
• Communicate progress and maintain clean, organized work areas.
• Adhere to project specs, timelines and quality standards.

Job Title: HVAC Installer Job Description

This role focuses on supporting commercial construction projects by installing HVAC duct systems and mechanical piping, and assisting with equipment placement. You will work under senior mechanics while independently completing assigned tasks, ensuring high-quality workmanship, strict safety compliance, and adherence to project specifications. The position offers hands‑on experience across a variety of large‑scale commercial environments and systems.

Responsibilities

• Install HVAC duct systems, including ductwork layout, sheet metal assembly, and associated components such as VAVs, RTUs, and AHUs.

• Assist with mechanical piping installation, including copper, steel, PVC, and ProPress piping, using brazing and threading techniques.

• Support equipment placement and setting, including hangers, supports, and vibration isolation for HVAC and mechanical systems.

• Interpret and work from mechanical blueprints, drawings, risers, and isometric diagrams to complete installations accurately.

• Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting on airflow issues, leaks, and alignment problems to ensure system performance.

• Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including OSHA standards, lockout/tagout practices, and confined space requirements.

• Install and assist with basic HVAC controls, including thermostats, low‑voltage wiring, and sensors.

• Use sheet metal tools, pipe threading machines, brazing torches, snips, shears, and press tools to complete daily tasks.

• Operate scissor lifts and boom lifts to access work areas safely and efficiently.

• Collaborate closely with senior mechanics, foremen, plumbers, electricians, general contractor supervisors, and project managers on active job sites.

• Communicate effectively with team members, take direction from senior staff, and provide updates on task progress.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area, properly store tools and materials, and support overall site cleanliness.

• Adhere to project specifications, timelines, and quality standards while working in a fast‑paced commercial construction environment.

Essential Skills

• 1–5+ years of experience in commercial HVAC or mechanical construction.

• Proficiency in commercial HVAC installation, including ductwork layout, sheet metal assembly, and installation of VAVs, RTUs, and AHUs.

• Strong pipefitting skills with copper, steel, PVC, and ProPress piping, including brazing and threading.

• Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints, drawings, risers, and isometric diagrams.

• Hands‑on experience setting equipment using hangers, supports, and vibration isolation methods.

• Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills for airflow issues, leaks, and alignment.

• Knowledge of safety compliance standards, including OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and confined space practices.

• Basic controls knowledge, including thermostats, low‑voltage wiring, and sensors.

• Ability to lift 50–75 pounds and work safely on ladders and lifts.

• Experience using sheet metal tools, pipe threading machines, brazing torches, snips, shears, and press tools.

• Experience operating scissor lifts and boom lifts.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to take direction and work effectively within a team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Certifications preferred: OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 safety training.

• EPA 608 certification is preferred for handling refrigerants.

• Brazing certifications are preferred and demonstrate advanced piping skills.

• Experience working on large‑scale commercial projects such as interior fit‑outs, base building projects, hospitals, schools, and data centers.

• Comfort working in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented construction environment.

• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including plumbers, electricians, general contractor supervisors, and project managers.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Flemington, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $45.00/hr.
