Job summary

Daikin Applied, the world's largest HVAC company, is seeking an HVAC Installer/Sheetmetal Mechanic/Technician I for onsite work in Huntsville, AL. You will install and perform pre-startup tasks for commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, reading blueprints and wiring as needed.

Responsibilities include installing equipment such as chillers, boilers, rooftop units and ductwork, plus routine maintenance and customer communication.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree or HVAC certificate from technical school preferred.
• 0–2 years of related work experience.
• Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (training during onboarding).
• EPA Universal Technician Certification preferred.
• Current first aid/ CPR card preferred.

• Install commercial HVAC equipment and related items such as chillers, boilers, split systems, air handlers, rooftops units and ductwork.
• Read blueprints and layout mechanical rooms for new equipment installation.
• Run piping, ductwork, wiring, conduit and pour concrete.
• Occasionally perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment.
• Repair and replacement of defective equipment, components, or wiring for various units.
• Inspect equipment to identify potential problems and prevent breakdowns.
• Interact with customers by providing status reports during and after installation.
• Participate in available training and maintain required certifications.
• Maintain a clean work area and follow safety policies.

Daikin Applied is seeking a HVAC Installer/Sheetmetal Mechanic/Technician I. In this role, you will be responsible for installing and doing pre-startup tasks for commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. The responsibilities will increase based on exposure to tasks, ability to develop skill sets, and consistent and accurate completion of assignments. The HVAC equipment you will be installing includes but is not limited to large and small rooftop units, split systems, chillers, and boilers. Location: Huntsville, AL. - Onsite

Your Responsibilities:

• Install new commercial HVAC equipment and related items such as chillers, boilers, split systems, air handlers, rooftops units and ductwork.
• Read blueprints and layout of mechanical rooms for new equipment installation
• Run piping, ductwork, wire, conduit and pour concrete
• Occasionally perform maintenance on commercial HVAC equipment including, cleaning coils, brushing tubes, replacing filters, replacing belts and proper lubrication
• Occasionally repair and replacement of defective equipment, components, or wiring related to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, chillers and condenser tubes
• Occasionally maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks
• Interact with customers by offering status reports of the equipment installation, during, and after each job
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, off-site learning modules, and Daikin Learning. Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld
• Follow all OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures

Your Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Associate's degree or technical school with an HVAC certificate (preferred)
• 0-2 years of related work experience
• Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
• Commercial HVAC industry experience (preferred)
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process)
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $20.80 - $ 33.27 in Alabama. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
