Job summary

Daikin Applied Americas Inc is seeking an HVAC Installer/Sheetmetal Mechanic/Technician I for on-site work in Huntsville, AL. You will install and pre-startup HVAC equipment, including rooftops, chillers, boilers, and ductwork, reading blueprints and aligning mechanical rooms.

You’ll perform routine maintenance, participate in trainings, and maintain certifications while ensuring safety and clean work areas. Prior experience in commercial HVAC is preferred and EPA universal tech certs are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• HVAC certificate preferred (assoc or technical school).
• 0–2 years related work experience.
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire is provided during onboarding.
• EPA Universal Technician Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install new commercial HVAC equipment and related items (ductwork, boilers, chillers, rooftops).
• Read blueprints and layout mechanical rooms for new equipment installation.
• Run piping, ductwork, wiring, and conduit; pour concrete as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance on HVAC equipment and replace worn components.
• Inspect and service equipment to prevent breakdowns and callbacks.
• Provide status updates to customers during and after installs.
• Participate in training through regional technicians and Daikin Learning.

In this role, you will be responsible for installing and doing pre-startup tasks for commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. The responsibilities will increase based on exposure to tasks, ability to develop skill sets, and consistent and accurate completion of assignments. The HVAC equipment you will be installing includes but is not limited to large and small rooftop units, split systems, chillers, and boilers. Your Responsibilities:

• Install new commercial HVAC equipment and related items such as chillers, boilers, split systems, air handlers, rooftops units and ductwork.
• Read blueprints and layout of mechanical rooms for new equipment installation
• Run piping, ductwork, wire, conduit and pour concrete
• Occasionally perform maintenance on commercial HVAC equipment including, cleaning coils, brushing tubes, replacing filters, replacing belts and proper lubrication
• Occasionally repair and replacement of defective equipment, components, or wiring related to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, chillers and condenser tubes
• Occasionally maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks
• Interact with customers by offering status reports of the equipment installation, during, and after each job
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, off-site learning modules, and Daikin Learning.
• Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld
• Follow all OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures

Your Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Associate’s degree or technical school with an HVAC certificate (preferred)
• 0-2 years of related work experience
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
• Commercial HVAC industry experience (preferred)
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process)
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $20.80 - $ 33.27 in Alabama. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
