Dauenhauer Plumbing, Heating & Air in Lexington, KY, offers an HVAC Install Apprentice role within TurnPoint Services’ network. This full-time, on-site program provides paid, hands-on training in a state-of-the-art facility, guided by experienced journeymen to build real-world skills for a lasting HVAC career.

As an apprentice, you’ll learn from pros while supporting residential and commercial systems, with a focus on safety, teamwork, and growth within a national platform.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead HVAC technicians with installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems.
• Attend apprenticeship classes and pass classroom and hands-on assessments.
• Learn to use tools, equipment, and safety procedures on job sites.
• Measure, cut, and assemble ductwork and related components.
• Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance under guidance.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas, tools, and vehicles.

What You Bring

• You bring strong communication skills, with the ability to read and interpret technical documents and explain concepts clearly to customers and team members.
• You have solid mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages, and the ability to interpret bar graphs.
• Your excellent problem-solving and reasoning abilities, with the capacity to troubleshoot issues, make sound decisions, helps to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
• You are comfortable using computers and technology, including data entry, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
• Physical stamina and adaptability, able to lift and maneuver heavy equipment, work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, and safely climb ladders or scaffolding.
• You have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn from experienced journeymen while growing your skills in the heating, air and ventilation trade.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist lead HVAC technicians with installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
• Attend and actively participate in apprenticeship classes, achieving passing grades in both classroom and hands-on training assessments.
• Learn and apply proper use of tools, equipment, and safety procedures on job sites.
• Measure, cut, and assemble ductwork, piping, and related components, supporting setup, wiring, and testing of HVAC units.
• Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance under guidance, including electrical, refrigerant, and airflow systems.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas, tools, and vehicles while adhering to company quality and safety standards.
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers, providing professional, friendly service.
• Participate in ongoing hands-on training to build technical knowledge and grow toward becoming a licensed HVAC technician.
• Work closely with experienced technicians to gain practical field experience, develop technical skills, and contribute to safe, efficient, and high-quality job performance

Basic Requirements

• High school diploma/GED
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Ability to travel and attend classes during apprenticeship training period
• Adept at using the basic tools of the trade
• Good math skills for accurate measurements
• Excellent manual dexterity
• Strong active listening skills and a passion for the trade
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work efficiently and take guided direction
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation

Preferred Requirements

• Recent graduate of an accredited skilled trade or vocational program
• 1 year of HVAC Install experience
