Position Overview: HVAC General Maintenance Workers at Camp Pendleton perform general maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repairs of various types of commercial HVAC equipment to ensure smooth operation. You may assist workers and journeymen by performing general duties of lesser skill, such as supplying materials and tools, holding materials, and cleaning work areas. The ideal candidate follows all health and safety standards while performing assigned tasks.
Salary: $23.23/hr plus $4.93 fringe benefits (used towards insurance and 401k)

Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, operate, or test machinery to diagnose malfunctions
- Perform maintenance actions like inspecting drives, motors, pulleys, belts, checking fluid levels, and replacing filters
- Clean or lubricate machine parts
- Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, then repair or replace them and reassemble
- Assess used parts for dimensional requirements
- Record maintenance or repair work, including costs
- Order parts and supplies from catalogs or storerooms
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Essential Skills
- Knowledge of HVAC methods, materials, tools, and equipment in a commercial/industrial setting
- Operate cutting torches or welding equipment
- Use hand tools, measuring instruments, and testing devices
- Use rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools
- Be adaptable and flexible
- Prioritize tasks for timely completion
- Practice workplace safety, including proper use of PPE
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years related experience and/or vocational/technical training in building or utility trades
- Valid driver’s license
- Pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Dependable attendance
- U.S. citizenship for access to military installations
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Use of hands, reaching, talking, walking
- Prolonged sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, stooping
- Climb ladders and enter confined spaces
- Handle heavy objects and contact with sharp, hot, or cold supplies
- Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
