Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. seeks an engineering technician for field work supporting data center cooling systems. You will interpret blueprints, install refrigeration components, and perform startup tests while coordinating with design, QA, and manufacturing teams.

You will travel to customer sites, assist with commissioning, and communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This is a safety-sensitive role requiring a valid license and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and high school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of cooling/refrigeration equipment and electrical systems.
• Experience reading blueprints and schematics; able to interpret specifications.
• Strong communication, safety discipline, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret electrical, control, and mechanical blueprints and drawings.
• Assemble and install refrigeration or air-conditioning components with tools.
• Measure, lay out points, and connect piping using welding/brazing equipment.
• Start up systems, test for leaks, recharge refrigerant and calibrate equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC/refrigeration systems, including PLC controls.
• Communicate technical issues to staff and customers; travel to field sites.
