Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company in Madison, PA is seeking a Field Service Student Technician to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic engineering environment at the Waltz Mill facility. You will support daily operations, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting/repair of HVAC and related building systems.

Based in our Waltz Mill facility in Madison, PA, you will report to the Service Center Supervisor and collaborate with the Service Center Operations team while developing practical

Qualifications

• Must be a student.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs or more.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn HVAC systems.
• Ability to follow written procedures and work with supervision.
• Ability to lift/carry tools and work in mechanical/roof areas as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine HVAC inspections and PM tasks (filters, belts, lubrication, coil cleaning, basic checks).
• Respond to service requests and help diagnose comfort issues (hot/cold calls), escalating complex issues as needed.
• Assist with minor repairs/replacements on HVAC components and related mechanical equipment.
• Document work performed (work orders, maintenance logs) and communicate status updates.
• Support safe operation of equipment and follow site safety procedures (PPE, lockout/tagout where applicable).
• Coordinate with vendors for scheduled HVAC service and support access/escort as needed.
