Job summary

The Building People in Columbia, SC seeks a Facilities Mechanical/HVAC Project Specialist to support Army Reserve DPW in Columbia. The role provides planning, maintenance, repair, and project coordination for Army facilities and infrastructure, focusing on practical HVAC and mechanical systems, field data collection, and documentation to ensure mission readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred; eight years of HVAC experience acceptable in lieu.
• Minimum three years of experience supporting HVAC, mechanical systems, or infrastructure repair projects.
• Ability to coordinate with government personnel, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Experience preparing scopes of work, repair plans, cost estimates, or maintenance records.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assess HVAC and facility deficiencies and develop repair recommendations.
• Conduct field surveys, site assessments, and drawing verification.
• Prepare technical documentation, repair plans, scopes of work, PWS/IGE.
• Support planning, maintenance, repair, and execution activities for Army Reserve facilities.
• Coordinate with government personnel, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Upload project documentation into FEMS, CMMS, or designated systems.
• Ensure work aligns with Army/UFC standards and codes.
