Job summary

Atlantic Constructors, Inc. is seeking a Special Projects Estimator to deliver complete estimates for HVAC and sheet metal bids on assigned projects.

You will review plans, specs, and bid documents, gather quotes, and develop accurate, timely estimates in collaboration with the estimating manager. You should have 2+ years of trades estimating in commercial/industrial construction, with a track record in HVAC.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' trades estimating experience in commercial and/or industrial construction projects or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 1+ years' Estimating/Pre-Construction experience; HVAC knowledge is a plus
• Demonstrate knowledge and efficiency in computer/network based estimating software (Autobid/Quote Soft/TSI/Estimation)
• Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and interpreting cost data
• Understanding of construction assemblies
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Must meet critical deadlines
• Must adhere to all company policies

Responsibilities

• Complete assembly of estimates on assigned projects for multiple trades, focusing on HVAC
• Solicit subcontractor and vendor quotations to cover all scopes
• Review documents including instructions to bidders, scope of work, and general conditions
• Distribute plans and addenda to subcontractors via FTP and email
• Assist in bid strategy development
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits; travel as needed
• Prepare detailed estimates from take-off and pricing of self-performed work
• Review subcontractor/vendor quotations for compliance with plans
• Develop rough draft scope of work for proposals
• Assist in negotiating subcontracts and procurement
• Enter estimates into job cost control program and support turnover meetings
• Provide budgets, estimates, schedules and manpower projections
• Collaborate with in-house teams to coordinate scope
• Work independently with minimal supervision; detail-oriented and problem-solving
• Perform other duties as assigned
