Job summary

Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking an experienced HVAC Journeyman Technician for the Irving, TX area. This Bargaining Unit position involves servicing light to heavy commercial systems, with travel to support branch customers.

Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry. EPA refrigerant license and valid driver’s license required; 8+ years in HVAC troubleshooting; ability to work with centrifugal compressors,

Qualifications

• Minimum of eight years commercial/industrial HVAC troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with rooftop units, pumps, fans, boilers, chillers, compressors.
• Ability to troubleshoot centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers; ammonia/hydrocarbon systems.

Our talented people empower us, and we believe in being part of a team that is open, collaborative, results-oriented, hardworking and above all fun.**How will you do it**We are looking for skilled HVAC Mechanics who have practical work experience in their trade, (HVAC piping, plumbing, pipefitting and /or mechanical equipment service industry).Mechanics must have practical working experience in light commercial or commercial mechanical equipment. May be required to satisfactorily pass an examination to identify special skills. Scope of work shall be limited to commercial HVACR service. Servicemen may partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and absorption machines, open-drive screw chillers and ammonia systems. Perform maintenance, repair and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.We provide factory certification through our Service Technical Academy (STA) with recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.**What we look for****Required*** Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.* Be a dedicated member of a North America Branch team willing to learn and be responsible for system trouble shooting, repair and aftermarket services for this fast-growing business.* Minimum of Eight (8) years Commercial and/or industrial, mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry and Industrial Petrochemical, or Data Center vertical environments. This includes Rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing.* Able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers and/or ammonia / hydrocarbon system components.* Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.* Able to install complete systems, (Chillers, Rooftop Units, plumbing and all supporting mechanical systems).* Mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators, laser etc. of pumps, fans, Compressors.* Able to use vibration equipment to trouble shoot drivelines.* Travel maybe required 10% to 20% to support Branch Customers activities, trouble shooting, installation and repair.* You will be required to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.* Opportunity to invest in career development. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.This is a Bargaining Unit Position but is subject to all pre-hiring screening of JCI. With successful performance, JCI may recommend you to the Union Local apprenticeship program, as well as continued employment at JCI. Acceptance by Union Local must occur within 365 days of employment or will result in termination of this position. This is not a guaranty of employment or entering the Union. The Union has its own entry, qualification & screening programs.
