Job summary

Silent-Aire, a Johnson Controls company, is seeking an Equipment Designer I to design and document custom HVAC equipment and modular infrastructure. You will create 3D models, drafting, and assembly documentation, while supporting BOMs and engineering change processes.

Collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations, you will ensure accuracy and manufacturability, participate in continuous improvement, and contribute to on-site project delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, or technical certification in Mechanical Design, Drafting Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• 2-5 years of experience supporting mechanical equipment, assemblies, or engineered products in a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of sheet metal design, fabrication processes, manufacturing methods, and material selection.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across engineering, manufacturing, and operation teams.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise 3D models, fabrication drawings, assemblies, and engineering documentation for HVAC equipment.
• Assist in translating engineering concepts, sketches, and specifications into accurate technical drawings and designs.
• Support the development and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and product documentation.
• Ensure drawing accuracy, revision control, and compliance with company drafting standards and engineering procedures.
• Work with Designers, Engineers, and Manufacturing personnel to resolve drawing discrepancies and support project deliverables.
• Incorporate design revisions and engineering changes into existing models and drawings.
• Perform basic design checks, dimensional reviews, and manufacturability assessments under guidance from senior team members.
• Support manufacturing, testing, and prototype activities by providing updated documentation and design support.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining design standards and best practices.
