Job summary

Bowman is seeking a Mechanical (HVAC) Design Intern for Summer 2027 in Baltimore, MD. This role introduces you to mechanical design across commercial, government, academic, R&D, multi-family, and industrial projects, including construction documents development.

Under supervision, you will design systems, document field conditions, and learn codes while collaborating with engineers, project managers, and clients to meet project milestones.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an ABET-accredited degree program, preferably in a mechanical or architectural engineering program of study.
• Interest in MEP design as a future career path.
• Introductory study or knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT, TraneTrace, and/or eQuest modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Design appropriate mechanical systems in accordance with current code requirements and sound engineering principles.
• Communicate effectively with engineers, project manager, and occasionally the client.
• Conduct field observations visits to accurately document the existing field conditions.
• Accurately produce the project construction documents to meet milestone schedules within a predetermined hourly budget under direction of a senior engineer and project manager.
• If directed, review all project related construction administrative items (shop drawings, RFI's, change order proposals).
• Review and learn codes applicable to the discipline.
