Job summary

Salas O’Brien in Austin, TX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/Designer to design HVAC systems for K-12 schools, retail/mixed-use, and commercial spaces. You will produce mechanical drawings using AutoCAD and Revit and perform field investigations.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in HVAC design and construction, plus knowledge of duct/piping systems, load calculations, and relevant codes. This on-site role emphasizes collaboration across disciplines and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• You have 2 to 5 years of experience in HVAC design and construction.
• Solid understanding of duct design, piping design, air handlers, chiller and boiler systems.
• Experience with load calculations, equipment selection and design, wet and dry side system design.
• Knowledge of CBC, CMC and CPC codes, DDC controls, Title 24, HAP or Energy Pro
• Must have strong verbal and written communications skills in design and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Design Heating, Ventilating & Air Conditioning Systems for various facilities.
• Produce mechanical design drawings in AutoCAD and/or Revit software.
• Perform field investigations.
• Coordinate quality control, scheduling, and programming.
• Coordinate and communicate information and progress with mechanical, electrical and plumbing disciplines.
