Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking experienced HVAC Mechanics to join our commercial service team. You will diagnose and repair commercial HVAC systems, perform maintenance, troubleshoot advanced equipment, and install complete systems while prioritizing safety and customer satisfaction.

We value 3–5 years of experience, EPA refrigerant certification, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to communicate clearly with customers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience.
• EPA refrigerant certification is required.
• Valid current driver’s license.
• Proficiency in mechanical alignment and vibration diagnostics.
• Clear communication with customers and documenting service actions.
• Willingness to join the UA (United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices).
• Self-motivated, safety-focused, and eager to learn.
• Ability to pass a technical proficiency exam.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing and repairing commercial HVAC systems (chillers, boilers, compressors, pumps, fans, etc.).
• Performing maintenance and replacements on mechanical systems.
• Troubleshooting advanced systems including centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon components.
• Conducting mechanical shaft alignment and vibration analysis.
• Installing complete HVAC systems and supporting infrastructure.
• Providing expert recommendations and quotes for system upgrades and repairs.
• Collaborating with apprentices and other mechanics to share knowledge and ensure top-tier service.
• Traveling 10–20% to support customer needs across the region.
• Prioritizing safety in every task.

What We’re Looking For

*This is a Bargaining Unit Position. Hiring Compensation: $21.18 Is determined by the Local UA. (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
