Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a forward-thinking HVAC TB Journeymen Mechanic I to support our North America operations. The role focuses on maintenance, repair, and replacement of commercial HVAC systems, with travel between 10% and 20% to support branch activities.

You will troubleshoot and resolve service issues in light to heavy commercial environments, partner with journeymen on chiller repairs, and assist with commissioning and aftermarket service while delivering clear customer communication

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of commercial/industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry.
• Practical work experience in HVAC piping, plumbing, pipefitting, or mechanical equipment service.
• Experience with rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing.
• Universal EPA refrigerants license and valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel 10%–20% to support branch activities, troubleshooting, installation, and repair.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.

Qualifications

• Membership in, or willingness to join, the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
• Minimum of three years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry.
• Practical work experience in HVAC piping, plumbing, pipefitting, or mechanical equipment service.
• Practical working experience with light commercial or commercial mechanical equipment.
• Experience with rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing.
• Mechanical shaft alignment experience using dial indicators for pumps, fans, and compressors.
• Ability to use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drivelines.
• Ability to write and communicate customer problem, cause, and corrective-action information clearly.
• Attention to detail and strong interpersonal, digital, and written communication skills.
• Self-starter with a desire to learn and apply new knowledge on the job.
• Willingness to travel 10% to 20% to support branch customer activities, troubleshooting, installation, and repair.
• Ability to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
• Universal EPA refrigerants license.
• Applicable state or local licensing.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Nice to Have Factory certification through the Service Technical Academy (STA).
• Experience supporting customer recommendations and upselling opportunities.
• Familiarity with HVAC products and sales quoting.
• Experience participating in incentive or rewards programs tied to service performance.

Pay Range

Hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet.

Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
