Job summary

Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) seeks an HVAC/refrigeration technician to perform complex troubleshooting, repair, overhauls, and servicing of HVAC and refrigeration systems in federal facilities in the Richmond, VA area.

You will work with computer-based controls, upgrade and program HVAC systems, and reference specifications from manuals to install large units up to 200 tons. Pre-employment checks and security clearances apply, with potential for incentives and mandatory physicals.

Qualifications

• Experience that demonstrates ability to perform HVAC/refrigeration servicing as described in the duties.
• Valid state driver's license and capability to obtain/maintain a government vehicle license for operating government vehicles from ½ ton to 1½ ton trucks.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex troubleshooting, repairs, overhaul, modification, and servicing of HVAC and refrigeration units.
• Operate, adjust, and repair HVAC systems controlled by computer-based systems (DDS, microprocessor, electro-pneumatic, electronic, automated logic).
• Inspect equipment for damage, leaks, corrective voltage, and amperes.
• Upgrade, program, install HVAC control systems; repair DD C and VAV controllers.
• Reference work orders, blueprints, sketches, and manuals to install large units up to ~200 tons.
• Utilize computer-based software to assist completion of work (Honeywell, CARE, Johnson Metasys, XI584, Back Talk, etc.).
• Service and repair compressors, air handling units, condensers, water towers, evaporators, chillers, valves, dehumidification units, and mechanical ventilating equipment.
