Job summary

Legacy Placement Partners in Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex is hiring Building Automation / HVAC Controls Technicians at multiple experience levels. This on-site role focuses on troubleshooting commercial BAS, DDC systems, and HVAC controls in field settings across a range of platforms.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with commercial HVAC controls, BAS, and/or DDC systems.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, controls drawings, and mechanical drawings.
• Experience troubleshooting controllers, sensors, actuators, relays, field devices, and communication issues.

Responsibilities

• Service, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair commercial BAS/DDC and HVAC control systems.
• Diagnose issues involving controllers, sensors, actuators, relays, field devices, networks, and sequences.
• Troubleshoot HVAC equipment to distinguish mechanical, electrical, controls, or programming issues.
• Perform system startup, testing, checkout, and commissioning.
• Verify HVAC equipment operation and sequences of operation.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, controls drawings, and mechanical drawings.
• Make control and system adjustments to improve performance.
• Document service findings, repairs, changes, and recommended actions.
• Communicate professionally with customers, project teams, technicians, and other trades.
• Take ownership of service calls from initial diagnosis through resolution.

Full-Time | $25–$50+/hour, DOE

Legacy Placement Partners is partnering with a leading commercial mechanical contractor to hire Building Automation / HVAC Controls Technicians at multiple experience levels.

If you have hands-on experience troubleshooting commercial HVAC controls, Direct Digital Controls (DDC), or Building Automation Systems (BAS), we want to talk with you.

We're looking for technicians who understand how building controls and HVAC equipment work together and can troubleshoot issues in the field. Experience with Niagara/Tridium, Distech, Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Automated Logic, or similar commercial BAS platforms is valuable — you do not need experience with every platform listed.

What You'll Do

• Service, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair commercial BAS/DDC and HVAC control systems
• Diagnose issues involving controllers, sensors, actuators, relays, field devices, communication networks, and control sequences
• Troubleshoot HVAC equipment and determine whether problems are mechanical, electrical, controls, communication, or programming related
• Perform system startup, testing, checkout, and commissioning
• Verify HVAC equipment operation and sequences of operation
• Troubleshoot communication and integration issues between controllers, field devices, and BAS networks
• Read and interpret controls drawings, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and sequences of operation
• Make control and system adjustments to improve performance
• Document service findings, repairs, system changes, and recommended corrective actions
• Communicate professionally with customers, project teams, technicians, and other trades
• Take ownership of service calls from initial diagnosis through resolution

What We're Looking For

• Hands-on experience with commercial HVAC controls, BAS, and/or DDC systems
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic ability
• Understanding of commercial HVAC equipment and sequences of operation
• Experience troubleshooting controllers, sensors, actuators, relays, field devices, and communication issues
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, controls drawings, and mechanical drawings
• Experience with one or more commercial BAS/DDC platforms
• Strong electrical and controls troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently in a field-service environment
• Strong communication, organization, and customer-service skills

Nice to Have

• Distech, Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Automated Logic, or similar BAS platform experience
• System startup and commissioning experience
• BAS programming or system integration experience
• Experience working for a commercial mechanical/HVAC contractor
• Experience servicing controls in commercial facilities

Who Will Be Successful

We're looking for a hands-on technician, not someone who only works behind a computer.

You should be comfortable walking into a commercial building, identifying what isn't working, troubleshooting the system, determining the root cause, and helping get the equipment and controls operating correctly.

Candidates with strong HVAC controls or DDC troubleshooting experience who haven't worked with every BAS platform listed are still encouraged to apply.

This is not a traditional PLC or industrial automation position. The focus is commercial building automation, DDC, and HVAC controls
