Job summary

Satellite Services, Inc. (SSI) seeks an Instrument Mechanic to install, repair, maintain, and calibrate indicating, recording, and controlling instruments used to measure pressure, flow, temperature, and other variables.

You will perform diagnostics, testing, and calibration to meet specifications. The role requires an HS Diploma, 3–5 years in HVAC and instrument control maintenance, Backflow and Universal EPA certifications, and the ability to obtain security clearance.

Qualifications

• Three to five years in HVAC equipment and controls maintenance and repair in an industrial/commercial/data center environment.
• Backflow Prevention Certification required.
• Universal EPA Certification required.
• Security Clearance (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, maintain, and adjust indicating, recording, telemetering, and controlling instruments measuring pressure, flow, temperature, motion, and other variables.
• Disassemble faulty equipment, test mechanisms and circuitry, and replace defective parts.
• Troubleshoot equipment in or out of control systems and calibrate instruments to standards.
• Calibrate final control mechanisms and maintain safety compliance.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Instrument Mechanic installs, repairs, maintains, and adjusts indicating, recording, telemetering, and controlling instruments used to measure and control variables, such as pressure, flow, temperature, motion, force, and chemical composition, using hand tools and precision instruments. This worker disassembles malfunctioning instruments, examines and tests mechanisms and circuitry for defects; troubleshoots equipment in or out of control system and replaces or repairs defective parts, reassembles instrument and tests assembly for conformance with specifications, using instruments, such as potentiometer, resistance bridge, manometer, and pressure gauge; inspects instruments periodically, and makes minor calibration adjustments to insure functioning within specified standards. This mechanic may adjust and repair final control mechanisms, such as automatically controlled valves or positioners, and may calibrate instruments according to established standards. All duties must be performed within the specified safety regulations of the company and the position. May perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

The position may require lifting up to 75 pounds, walking, and standing for extended periods of time, bending, pushing, pulling, some climbing and balancing may be needed. Significant hand and finger dexterity required. Environment, while generally hazard free, may include some exposure to dust and varying temperatures.

• Position may include some shift work and Saturdays and Sundays
