Job summary

EMCOR Services Mesa Energy is seeking an Application Engineer II to join our HVAC-focused team in Fresno, CA. You will identify MEP systems from drawings and interpret equipment intent, then develop sequences of operations for real-world conditions.

Demonstrated experience with HVAC controls and wiring, plus strong CAD skills, are essential. The role involves creating P&IDs, submittals, and O&M packages, selecting appropriate control hardware, and collaborating with field electricians to ensure

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent.
• 4+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in applications engineering.
• Knowledge of electronics, mechanics, and computer programming.
• Experience with at least two HVAC controls systems (Distech, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls or Delta).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Experience with control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Identify MEP systems on drawings.
• Understand the intent of mechanical equipment (Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, EF’s).
• Develop written sequence of operations from drawings or site conditions.
• Design complex electrical circuits (VFDs, motor starters, transducers, actuators, sensors, relays).
• Utilize Visio and AutoCAD for drawings.
• Apply advanced knowledge of controls hardware.
• Select control hardware based on equipment requirements.
• Explore new control technologies to enhance offerings.
• Create P&IDs based on mechanical equipment.
• Develop controls submittals and O&M packages.
• Identify potential scopes of work for controls implementation.
• Coordinate with field electricians on installation methods.
• Create control panel construction schedules.
• Maintain control panel material inventory.
