Job summary

EMCOR Services Mesa Energy is seeking an Applications Engineer to support HVAC controls projects in Chino, CA. You will identify equipment from drawings, develop control system submittals, and work with senior engineers on project scope and installation methods.

The role requires a strong foundation in electronics, pneumatics, and programming, plus experience with Delta, JCI, or Andover systems and CAD tools. Excellent communication is essential for cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent field experience.
2+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in applications engineering preferred.
Engineering skills include electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and programming.
Working knowledge of HVAC controls systems (Delta, JCI or Andover).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance desired.
EIT or desire to obtain a PE license a plus.

Responsibilities

Read and identify mechanical equipment on floor plans.
Identify mechanical equipment on drawings: Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, AHU’s, FCU’s, VAV’s, EF’s.
Understand basic electrical control circuits including 24VAC power and controller I/O.
Proficient with Visio and/or AutoCAD.
Understand simple controls networking principles.
Display knowledge of controls hardware.
Create P&ID’s based on contract drawings P&ID’s.
Develop controls submittals with assistance from senior level engineers.
Understand simple installation methods.
Implement systems graphics per project scope.
Create guidelines, standards and templates for typical projects.
Basic knowledge of NEC requirements for control system installations.
