JCM Associates, Inc. is hiring HVAC start-up/commissioning technicians for full-time, year-round work in commercial projects across Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia.

The role emphasizes startup, commissioning, maintenance, and coordination with sub-contractors in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates have a CFC/Universal license, 5 years of relevant experience, and solid knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, with strong communication and reading abilities.

Responsibilities

• Start-up, commissioning, maintenance and service of industrial/commercial HVAC systems and plumbing equipment.
• Document startup and commissioning forms using laptops/tablets.
• Read from blueprints, drawings, models or written instructions.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and responsible parties to complete tasks on time.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed and tools/equipment stored properly.
• Teach and guide helpers on HVAC installation techniques.

JCM Associates, Inc. is hiring HVAC Start-up/Commissioning Technicians for full time year-round positions in commercial mechanical construction projects in the Maryland, Washington DC, Northern VA area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Start-up, commission, maintain, and services industrial/commercial HVAC systems and plumbing equipment. Troubleshoots and locates malfunctions, diagnoses problems, and determines appropriate repairs.
• Utilize laptops/tablets to document startup and commissioning forms required per project specifications.
• Works from blueprints, drawings, models, and/or verbal and written instructions.
• Prove mechanical and plumbing systems being control by building automation systems to third party Commissioning firm.
• Share partial supervision of NEBB Tab contractor and respond to punch listed equipment.
• Interface and coordinate activities with ATC sub-contractor.
• Services and repairs evaporators, condensers, and receivers. Repacks valves, lubricates moving parts, replaces filters, and clean coils.
• Adjusts, repairs, or replaces thermostats, relays, switches, and electrical wiring.
• Repairs or replaces compressors and components, electric motors, fans, belts, and pulleys.
• Maintains refrigerate inventory and consumption logs.
• Follows established safety procedures and utilizes safety protective equipment and clothing pertaining to trades or skills.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by direct manager.
• Complete some minor copper tubing; cut and thread pipe; make pipe and low voltage connections.
• Provides proper methods of storing and maintaining tools, equipment, and supplies in a safe and orderly condition.
• Meet schedules and timelines.
• Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders.
• Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution.
• Teach and instruct helper on the installation of a HVAC system.

Minimum Skills/Requirements:

• CFC/Universal License
• 5 years of experience building commercial mechanical projects or equipment
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems
• Ability to read, understand and work from drawings, specifications, and schematics
• Understands written and verbal instructions
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Incentives/Benefits:

• Excellent compensation ($82,000 - $104,000 per year)
• Daily Per Diem Paid (Travel, Housing & Meal expenses covered) Per Diem for qualified applicants traveling in excess of 70 miles per day.
