Overview
JCM Associates, Inc. is hiring HVAC Start-up/Commissioning Technicians for full time year-round positions in commercial mechanical construction projects in the MD, VA, and DC area.
Key Responsibilities
- Start-up, commission, maintain, and service industrial/commercial HVAC systems and plumbing equipment. Troubleshoot and locate malfunctions, diagnose problems, and determine appropriate repairs.
- Utilize laptops/tablets to document startup and commissioning forms required per project specifications.
- Work from blueprints, drawings, models, and/or verbal and written instructions.
- Prove mechanical and plumbing systems are controlled by building automation systems to third party Commissioning firm.
- Provide partial supervision of NEBB Tab contractor and respond to punch listed equipment.
- Interface and coordinate activities with ATC sub-contractor.
- Service and repair evaporators, condensers, and receivers. Repack valves, lubricate moving parts, replace filters, and clean coils.
- Adjust, repair, or replace thermostats, relays, switches, and electrical wiring.
- Repair or replace compressors and components, electric motors, fans, belts, and pulleys.
- Maintain refrigerant inventory and consumption logs.
- Follow established safety procedures and utilize safety protective equipment and clothing applicable to trades or skills.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by direct manager.
- Perform minor copper tubing tasks; cut and thread pipe; make pipe and low voltage connections.
- Provide proper methods of storing and maintaining tools, equipment, and supplies in a safe and orderly condition.
- Meet schedules and timelines.
- Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders.
- Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution.
- Teach and instruct helper on the installation of an HVAC system.
Minimum Skills/Requirements
- CFC/Universal License
- 5 years of experience building commercial mechanical projects or equipment
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems
- Ability to read, understand, and work from drawings, specifications, and schematics
- Understands written and verbal instructions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environmentAttendance, reliability, dependability, and flexibility
- Ability to interact with multiple personality types while ensuring a positive outcome
