Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 in Forest Park, IL is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to install, operate, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across facilities.

The ideal candidate brings 3–5 years of commercial/industrial HVAC maintenance, BAS expertise, and the ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems while adhering to safety standards and district policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; HVAC tech cert preferred.
• 3–5 years of commercial/industrial HVAC maintenance experience.
• Strong BAS, drawings, and schematics knowledge.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair HVAC equipment (air handlers, chillers, boilers, towers, pumps, VAV boxes, exhaust fans).
• Operate BAS for temperature, humidity, and system performance control.
• Perform preventive maintenance for energy-efficient operation.
• Maintain gas-fired equipment, steam traps, condensate tanks, and water treatment systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical components (motors, relays, sensors, thermostats).
• Check refrigerant levels, leak tests, and EPA-compliant recharge.
• Maintain cooling towers and water chemistry; support pool HVAC systems.
• Enter work orders in district system and close out when complete.
• Respond to service calls and alarms professionally; keep logs and reports.
• Ensure safety compliance (lockout/tagout, confined space, fall protection).
• Collaborate with staff, contractors, and vendors; snow removal as needed.
