Job summary

JLL Fort Worth is seeking a Shift Operating Engineer to ensure safe, efficient operation of building systems during assigned shifts. The role emphasizes HVAC operations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and maintaining optimal environmental conditions across the facility.

Responsibilities include operating HVAC systems, performing routine maintenance, diagnosing issues, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in operating HVAC/building systems.
• Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and building mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals; experience with BAS/BMS.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain HVAC systems (chillers, boilers, AHUs, cooling towers, pumps, BAS).
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment.
• Diagnose and repair HVAC issues (refrigerant systems, motors, valves, sensors, controls).
• Conduct rounds to inspect equipment performance, temperatures, and pressures.
• Respond to work orders, alarms, and on-call emergencies.
• Maintain logs and shift reports for operations and incidents.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local codes.
• Assist energy management initiatives and suggest system improvements.
• Support contractors and vendors onsite.
• Maintain a clean, safe mechanical workspace.
