Job summary

Trane Technologies in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a field-based Controls Technician. You will commission, program, and service HVAC control systems at customer sites, documenting verification and sequences of operations.

You’ll serve as the customer liaison, diagnose issues, and coordinate with the team to meet on-site requirements, while upholding safety and asset accountability. You must have HVAC/controls education, be proficient with MS Office and handheld devices, and hold a valid driver’s

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelors degree in HVAC or controls, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and working proficiency with laptop and handheld computers (e.g. iPad).
• Must possess a valid driver's license with clean record for driving to customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning, programming, setting up graphics, communications link, end-to-end testing and servicing on assigned projects.
• Document point-to-point verification and sequence of operations validation; close out requirements.
• Serve as direct customer contact and ensure satisfaction by diagnosing and repairing equipment on-site.
• Coordinate with team lead and customer to understand requirements for on-site installation and repairs.
• Maintain safety, security, and asset accountability; be flexible for overtime and weekends when needed.
