Job Description

Under the supervision of the Facilities Engineering Manager or designee, responsible for operating and maintaining WVUH facilities' HVAC control systems and components. Leads troubleshooting and repair of commercial HVAC systems and multi-zone systems with pneumatic, electronic, and programmable controls. Creates drawings for HVAC modifications and leads installation involving controls programming linked to WVUH central control systems. Performs operation, inspection, testing, servicing, and maintenance of mechanical, pneumatic, electronic, and DDC controls for HVAC and related building systems to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency. Coordinates maintenance and repair work to maximize hospital building system performance.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Post-secondary training (technical school, apprenticeship, college)
• Valid Driver’s License

• 5 years of experience installing and repairing commercial/industrial HVAC systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) from ISA
• Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification

• 2 years experience with Building Automation Systems, BACnet, LonWorks, and systems like Siemens, Johnson Controls, Trane, Reliable

Core Duties

Provide engineering support for BAS, maintain and troubleshoot systems, collaborate on installation and programming, evaluate repair options, interpret blueprints, program and tune control systems, perform preventive maintenance, support data collection, upgrade systems, evaluate equipment, respond to alarms, and support energy savings initiatives.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, and ascend/descend stairs/ladders for up to 8 hours.
• Lift/carry 1-15 lbs for 8 hours; 15-60+ lbs for 2 hours.
• Push/pull 1-15 lbs for 8 hours; 15-90+ lbs for 2 hours.

• Work in environments with temperature extremes, heights, vibrations, skin/lung irritants, and with safety gear and protective equipment.

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of BAS, DDC, control wiring, system networking, HVAC functions.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, follow instructions, use testing tools, and prioritize tasks.
