Job summary

RS Andrews of Tidewater Heating, Cooling, part of American Residential Services (ARS), is hiring an HVAC Assistant Service Manager in Chesapeake, VA. This role supports the service leadership team and helps manage day-to-day operations for residential HVAC service technicians.

You will assist with supervising the HVAC service team, coordinate technician schedules, monitor performance and customer satisfaction, and ensure parts and tools are available for service calls.

Qualifications

• Vocational HVAC training or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of HVAC service field supervisory experience.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and financial awareness.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
• Solid understanding of residential HVAC systems, service operations, and technician workflow.

Responsibilities

• Assist with supervising and developing the HVAC service team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
• Help coordinate technician schedules, daily assignments, and service priorities.
• Support the Service Manager in maintaining efficient operations and high-quality service delivery.
• Monitor technician performance, workmanship, and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure materials, parts, and equipment are ordered and available for scheduled jobs.
• Review departmental reports including inventory, tools, vehicles, and service metrics.
• Conduct job site visits and inspections to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
• Review payroll records to ensure technicians are properly compensated.
• Ensure technicians have tools and resources needed to complete service calls.
• Support dispatch operations to ensure appropriate technician assignment and scheduling.
