Job summary

EMCOR Group is seeking an HVAC Apprentice Technician to assist in operating, repairing, replacing and performing preventative maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC systems, chillers and boilers under supervision. The role emphasizes safe work practices aligned with OSHA and NFPA 70e standards and requires good verbal and written communication.

The position involves assisting with installation, retrofit work, ductwork, wiring, and material handling.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Entry level experience in maintaining and working with HVAC equipment.
• Strong oral and written communication required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform duties with supervision in isolated areas.
• Knowledge and experience in the proper use and safe operation of hand tools, equipment and testing devices necessary to perform all work assignments.
• Valid Vehicle Operators license.
• Ability to stand, sit or squat for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift, move and carry material up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work at extended heights.
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Working knowledge of desktop computers and Internet based programs to perform required annual training.
• Ability to wear a company uniform and maintain a neat personal appearance.
• This position will require a background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of how HVAC equipment operates.
• Assist in assembling, installing, servicing and repairing customer heating, air conditioning and other HVAC equipment.
• Retrofit installations, ductwork, refrigeration piping, and wiring.
• Installation and change-outs of ductwork on commercial systems.
• Self-motivated and work with little supervision.
• Maintain safe work practices in line with OSHA Health & Safety and NFPA 70e standards.
