Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA Inc. in Earth City, Missouri seeks a High Voltage Test Engineer to support Transformer Services by operating mobile high voltage test equipment and conducting electrical tests at customer sites.

You will analyze results, prepare technical reports, coordinate with field crews, and ensure compliance with IEEE, IEC, and NEMA standards while traveling 40–50% from Earth City.

Qualifications

• Work authorization to work in the United States.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with five+ years transformer experience or ten+ years transformer experience.
• Experience performing transformer testing and supporting field service operations.
• Knowledge of IEEE, IEC, and NEMA industry standards.
• Experience using Microsoft Office 365 and preparing technical reports.
• Hands-on low voltage testing experience preferred (winding resistance, turns ratio, excitation, power factor).
• Willingness to travel: 40–50% if based in Earth City, MO; 50–60% if based remotely.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a mobile high voltage test trailer system.
• Perform applied voltage, induced voltage, partial discharge localization, and temperature rise testing.
• Investigate potential sources of partial discharge and develop corrective action plans.
• Analyze electrical test data and oil DGA results.
• Calibrate testing equipment.
• Maintain the electrical and electronic components of the mobile test system.
• Prepare technical test reports and test plans in support of proposal activities.
• Provide technical support to field crews and communicate with customers.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
