Job summary

Southern States LLC is seeking an Application Engineer I to develop drawing packages for high-voltage switchgear and power switching devices. You will partner with sales, manufacturing, and quality teams to advise on technical aspects and deliver accurate drawings for fabricators and customers.

The role involves static/structural calculations, GD&T application, and ongoing design improvements to ensure customer satisfaction and project success.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or A.A.S. in CAD/Drafting with four years of applied experience.
• SolidWorks and AutoCAD proficiency; MS Office familiarity.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and structural calculations; statics and mechanics.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; effective communication.
• Ability to collaborate across sales, manufacturing and quality teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 2D and 3D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Perform static analysis to ensure integrity and safety of designs.
• Conduct mechanical, structural, and electrical calculations to support design.
• Apply GD&T to ensure accurate manufacturing and assembly.
• Provide technical support and participate in design reviews.
• Stay updated on industry trends and maintain product knowledge.
• Travel to project sites for start-up, integration, and training.
