Job summary

Switchgear Power Systems, LLC is seeking an Electrical Application Engineer to provide technical and administrative support during bid processes. You will develop single-line diagrams, coordinate project documentation, and assist engineers with design reviews for MV/LV switchgear and related facilities.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Project Managers and Production Engineers, ongoing mentoring, and preparation for advanced applications engineering roles within the team.

Qualifications

• Strong ability to interpret and develop electrical schematics, one-line, and three-line diagrams.
• Excellent documentation and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Proactive mindset with ownership of assigned work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary one-lines, three-lines, and control schematics in CAD software.
• Review power and control systems specifications for MV/LV switchgear, metal-clad and metal-enclosed gear, control houses and PDC.
• Perform AC/DC load calculations for CPTs and battery backup systems.
• HVAC sizing calculations using provided tools.
• Ensure designs meet applicable standards (UL, IEEE, NEC) and company specs.
• Analyze customer specifications against the quote/BOM to identify gaps or issues.
• Prepare and update variance log sheets.
• Participate in internal design review meetings for manufacturing readiness.
• Review Engineering submittal and construction packages for completeness and accuracy.
• Support development of project templates in CAD software.
• Coordinate with Application Engineers to ensure successful bid reviews.
• Attend Engineering meetings to support design validation and clarifications.
