Job summary

North American Substation Services (NASS) seeks a Field Service Test Technician to perform substation testing and transformer tests. This entry-level role emphasizes safety and learning under experienced technicians, with hands-on testing of insulation resistance, contact resistance, oil sampling, and related diagnostic tasks.

The position requires regular overnight travel, up to 75%, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to work flexible hours.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; supplemental electrical maintenance courses desirable.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Must be able to crawl, climb, stand and lift up to 50 lbs with or without accommodations.
• Must pass a fit-for-duty exam.
• Must be available for regular overnight travel and occasional international travel.
• Willing to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, and nights; travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic tests on transformer and circuit breakers (Insulation Resistance, Contact Resistance, Core Ground, oil sampling, ratio tests).
• Read and understand drawings and diagrams.
• Assist with grounding; knowledge of clearance, LOTO, etc.
• Set up testing equipment.
• Promote safety culture and follow PPE and safety policies.
• Participate in safety training and meetings.
• Ensure field activities follow safety guidelines and company policies.
