Job summary

North American Substation Services (NASS) seeks a Field Service Technician II to perform installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of power transformers and high-voltage substation equipment. This role supports field operations with hands-on tasks, including transformer assembly, oil processing, gasket work, and basic testing under supervision.

The position requires 2+ years in transformer services or related field maintenance, a valid driver's license, and ability to travel up to ~80%

Qualifications

• Two+ years of experience in transformer services, substation work, or electrical/mechanical field maintenance.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, crawl, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to travel frequently (up to ~80%), including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Follow company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements; participate in safety meetings and training.
• Perform intermediate level field work including LOTO, grounding, arc‑flash protocols, and site preparation.
• Assist with transformer electrical testing by data collection and test setup.
• Operate dry air equipment and support moisture control during transformer assembly.
• Measure, cut, and install gaskets and sealing components.
• Assist with transformer internal work and components support.
• Support vacuum setup during transformer processing activities.
• Oversee rig operations during overnight or extended shifts.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of monitoring devices such as Calisto or other condition monitoring systems.
