Job summary

Actalent is seeking an experienced electrical test professional for field work across various customer sites. You will inspect, test, and commission electrical equipment, including high voltage systems, relays, and switchgear, while supporting on-call rotations and emergency responses.

The role requires 2+ years of testing experience, relevant certifications or military training, and strong PC skills. Travel is required, including overnight stays, with safety training and compliance emphasized

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience performing electrical testing, including switchgear testing and troubleshooting.
• NETA Level I, II, III, or IV certification or similar experience/certification preferred.
• Associate's degree in Electrical Power & Controls, Electrical Engineering degree, or comparable military electrical power training preferred.
• Relevant military backgrounds may include Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or Navy Seabee experience.
• Strong PC skills, including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel.
• PowerDB experience is a plus.
• Must be able to work safely and follow applicable electrical safety procedures.
• OSHA 30, MSHA, NFPA 70E, CPR, First Aid, BBP, and AED training preferred.
• Must be able to drive locally and regionally on a regular basis and be available for periodic overnight travel.
• Must be available for occasional emergency response, on-call duty, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, and perform startup/commissioning of electrical equipment.
• Test electrical systems from 480V to 600kV and conduct instrument and power transformer testing.
• Test electromechanical and solid-state relays and perform cable testing (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot).
• Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches and test switchgear and circuit breakers across LV, MV, HV systems.
• Perform relay calibration and power metering; participate in rotating emergency on-call coverage.
• Respond to customer emergencies as part of a rotating on-call schedule.
