Huron Research Suite - Product Owner - Remote

Our Research Enterprise Solutions team works with hospitals, universities, cancer centers, and research institutions to improve research administration performance through transformative change. As a Product Owner, you will bridge Product Management and internal stakeholders, defining value and ensuring the engineering team can deliver solutions aligned with industry standards and Huron’s POV.

Role Overview

The Product Owner is responsible for ensuring that the product delivers value to customers, users, and the company. You will champion the product, facilitate decisions, and maintain an all-inclusive view of the product, including business needs, market strategy, organizational readiness, and capabilities.

Responsibilities
  1. Concept/Roadmap
  • Review and contribute to the program vision, roadmap, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with product managers to understand problems, customer needs, and success metrics.
  • Translate product vision into actionable items.
  • Manage enhancement backlog, including review and prioritization.
  • Classify and prioritize bugs for release.
  • Sprints
    • Break features into user stories, prioritize initiatives, and write acceptance criteria.
    • Refine backlog and prepare for sprints, understanding dependencies and outstanding questions.
    • Participate in daily standups, grooming, planning, and retrospectives.
    • Represent stakeholder needs and serve as a liaison between teams.
    • Define and communicate the definition of done.
    • Lead system demonstrations and gather stakeholder feedback.
    • Participate in release management and utilize Azure DevOps for tracking and planning.
  • Customer Interactions
    • Visit customers, attend industry events, and incorporate insights into product improvements.
    • Coordinate internal Product Advisory Committee meetings and community sessions.
    Qualifications

    Required:

    • U.S. work authorization.
    • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience.
    • Experience in Agile environments.
    • Hands-on with Azure DevOps or similar tools.
    • Experience with RESTful APIs and defining integration requirements.
    • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Empathy for users and passion for quality solutions.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship-building.
    • Self-motivated, quick learner, and able to work independently.
    • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Willingness to work across time zones; remote work is supported.

    Preferred:

    • Experience with research administration solutions (e.g., Huron’s HRS, InfoEd, Cayuse, COEUS).
    • Industry experience in research administration at academic institutions.
    • Knowledge of research safety and animal research.
    • Understanding of SDLC, Agile practices, and microservices.
    • At least 1 year as Product Owner or similar role.
    • Product Owner Certification (CSPO, SAFe PO/PM) is a plus.
    • Willingness to travel up to 20% within the U.S.
    Compensation & Benefits

    The estimated base salary ranges from $75,000 to $105,000 USD, with total compensation including incentives estimated between $84,000 and $123,900 USD. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and wellness programs.
