Germanna Community College seeks Humanities Adjunct for the 2027 academic year to teach courses in person in Spotsylvania, VA. Hours will vary between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm depending on availability and scheduling needs.

In addition to classroom teaching, instructors may deliver courses online or in other modalities as required, with a focus on student engagement and flexible scheduling. The posting is for an anticipated pool of qualified adjuncts, with salary determined within the VCCS framework.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in the specific discipline.

• Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
• Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success.
• Technology capability (access to WIFI, computers) to teach remotely.
• All teaching positions of Germanna Community College require the ability to teach in a variety of modalities including virtually.
• Demonstrate competency and commitment to continuous professional development in virtual education.
• Complete Growing with Canvas and TOPS 2.2 prior to teaching.

Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. This posting is intended to establish a pool of qualified adjunct candidates for anticipated instructional needs for 2027. Actual hiring and course assignments are contingent upon enrollment, scheduling demands, program needs, and funding availability. As a result, there may or may not be positions filled from this posting.

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. We are currently seeking adjuncts in the field of Humanities.

Please note: This wide salary range reflects the diverse faculty ranks within the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Final salary determination and placement within this range are based on the candidate’s academic credentials and occupational experience as evaluated via the VCCS-10 process.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

Additional Considerations
