Job summary

Passaic County Community College is hiring an Academic Specialist for Human Services in Paterson, NJ. The twelve-month, full-time position combines teaching with coordinating field placements, requiring travel to sites and some evening/weekend work.

The role supports students in field experiences, participates in curriculum and program assessment, and contributes to student retention through data-driven activities. MSW is required; NJ CSW/LSW preferred.

Qualifications

• Master of Social Work is required.
• NJ CSW certification or LSW licensure preferred.
• One year teaching experience in higher education.
• One year administrative experience in higher education.
• One year fieldwork liaison experience in higher education.
• Two years of program, policy, or management experience in a social work or related field.
• Sensitivity to working with a diverse student population.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
• Knowledge of Blackboard LMS and its use in the classroom.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to 12 hours per week during the semester and intersessions, including day and evening classes.
• Execute administrative tasks and programs as assigned by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
• Assist in certifying students for fieldwork, evaluating current field sites, and establishing new fieldsites.
• Recruit and mentor students through the field application process, placing students at appropriate sites.
• Conduct field visits, monitor, and contribute to assessment of student performance.
• Travel locally to meet with students and agency representatives at field sites, with some evenings and weekends required.
• Assist in training and supervision of field liaisons.
• Participate in curriculum development, course planning and program assessment projects.
• Utilize research-based data to engage in activities that promote student retention and successful program completion.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
