The State of Hawaii is seeking candidates for a supervisory Human Resources position located in Downtown. The role requires a combination of general office clerical experience and extensive knowledge of human resources regulations.

The salary ranges from $4,221 to $5,338 monthly, depending on qualifications and funding availability.

Supervises and participates in the performance of substantive human resources clerical work that includes a significant proportion of those of a novel and/or unusually complicated nature and/or limited technical assistance work; and/or independently performs the full range of technical human resources work; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Positions at this level are of two (2) types:
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Legal Authorization to Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
General Experience: One year of progressively responsible general office clerical experience.
Specialized Experience: Four years of experience in an office where the work required the knowledge and application of pertinent human resources rules, regulations, procedures and program requirements.
Supervisory Aptitude: Some positions may require supervisory aptitude. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects of supervision, e.g. by serving as a group or team leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; or by the completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; and/or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.

Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Clearance - Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the harbor must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check. In order to be granted the TWIC clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity", of a disqualifying criminal offense within seven years from the date of appointment. Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding seven years. The cost for the records check will be the applicant’s responsibility. However, upon hire, the employee will be reimbursed provided he/she submits the TWIC receipt to his/her supervisor.
Driver’s License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.
