Job summary

DEFTEC Corporation is seeking a junior Human Resources Support Specialist to support the Contingency Operations (CO) Department at Fort Belvoir, VA. You will assist with HR actions for recruitment, onboarding, retention, and awards for Civilians and Military.

In this role you will collect data, draft documentation for DTRA workflows, and prepare reports for senior leaders. A Secret clearance and US citizenship are required; strong MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Active Secret security clearance required.
• High School Diploma.
• 1–3 years of HR support experience in government/military or corporate settings.
• Ability to write clear, concise correspondence with attention to detail.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to perform in a time-sensitive, high-accountability environment.

POSITION OVERVIEW

DEFTEC Corporation is seeking a junior Human Resources Support Specialist for a position supporting the Contingency Operations (CO) Department at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), located at Fort Belvoir, VA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide support in tracking human resource actions and activities related to recruitment (hiring and onboarding), retention, and awards programs for Civilians and Military.
• Support the CO Department with honorary civilian awards, to include assisting with drafting, proofing, and submitting all documentation required into appropriate DTRA workflow platforms.
• Perform complex tasks involving gathering, analyzing, and compiling data and information into well-written reports and presentations, to support senior leader decision making.
• Maintain awareness of annual due outs, such as the Department's military evaluations, and assist with in processing and out-processing employees, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Possess an active Secret security clearance
• High School Diploma
• One to three (3) years of professional Government-agency, military, or corporate experience human resource support
• Experience working in a time-sensitive environment with a high-level of accountability.
• Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, and articulate correspondence with a focus on quality control and attention to detail.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of coordination requirements for the successful preparation and approval of reports, briefings, memoranda, and presentations.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, plan, problem solve and adapt in a fast-paced and strategic environment under minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications (e.g., TEAMS, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project).

Preferred Qualifications:

• BS/BA degree desired
