• 4+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in manufacturing.

• Working knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
• Proficiency with HRIS platforms (Paylocity, ADP, UKG).
• PHR or SHRM-CP certification.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and managers regarding HR policies and workplace concerns.

• Partner with management to address employee concerns fairly and professionally.
• Assist with performance management, development, training, engagement, and retention initiatives.
• Maintain HR policies, Employee Handbook, procedures, forms, and communications.
• Monitor HR compliance with federal/state/local employment laws incl. ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, EEO.
• Back-up to Recruiter for transition, recruiting, onboarding.
• Back-up for payroll processing.
• Review feedback and exit interviews to identify improvement opportunities.

Job Summary

We are seeking an organized, knowledgeable, and people-focused HR Specialist to join our team in Janesville, WI. This position will serve as a key resource for employees and managers and will support the day-to-day administration of our human resources programs

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, workplace concerns, and employee-relations matters.
• Understand and advise on matters regarding federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, and help ensure organizational compliance with all applicable federal, state and local employment policies, procedures and regulations.
• Partner with management to address employee concerns fairly, consistently, and professionally.
• Assist with performance management, employee development, training, engagement, and retention initiatives.
• Maintain and administer HR policies, Employee Handbook, procedures, forms, and employee communications.
• Monitor applicable employment-law and regulatory requirements and assist with maintaining HR compliance with federal, state, and local employment law including ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, and other HR Compliance initiatives.
• Act as back-up to the Recruiter for support function such as transition, recruiting and onboarding into ongoing employee support.
• Act as back-up for payroll processing.
• Review employee feedback and exit-interview information to identify opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Associate’s degree or Technical Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field; bachelor’s degree preferred
• At least 4+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in manufacturing or similar environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills
• Working knowledge of HR practices and applicable employment laws and regulations
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Knowledge of HRIS platform (e.g. Paylocity, ADP, UKG)
• PHR or SHRM-CP certification

• Exposure to loud noise (hearing protection required)
• PPE required for certain tasks
• Safety-toe footwear is required on the production floor
• Food-grade environment requiring hygiene standards
• Work near industrial equipment and forklifts (area awareness)
