Job summary

HiEmployment Staffing Services is seeking an Benefits Administrator in Hawaii to administer and communicate employee benefit programs. You will act as liaison with insurance carriers, resolve benefits issues and support plan utilization. In-person interview is required; relocation is not offered.

The role pays $30.00 per hour, with a Monday–Friday schedule 8:00am–5:00pm. 3–5 years of benefits administration experience and knowledge of Hawaii laws are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience in Benefits Administration.
  • Experience administering complex leaves and reasonable accommodations.
  • Knowledge of complex benefit design and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with Workers' Compensation administration.
  • Knowledge of ADP.
  • Knowledge of Hawaii benefits and workers' compensation laws.
  • Knowledge of Treasury and IRS rules or HSAs and high-deductible plans.

Responsibilities

  • Administer health and welfare benefit plans (medical, dental, life, disability, retirement and more).
  • Ensure compliance with ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, 125 plans, Form 5500, USERRA, state rules.
  • Administer leave of absence program; coordinate with vendors/TPA for claims.
  • Oversee eligibility, tracking and reporting with TPA; handle FMLA/ADA/ accommodations.
  • Manage return-to-work and coordination of benefits after leaves or end-of-employment.
  • Counsel employees on benefits; respond to inquiries via HR Helpdesk; process benefits in ADP.
  • Handle resignation, turnover metrics, and involuntary termination with HR Manager.
  • Assist in creating and delivering comprehensive benefit communications.

About the role:

Responsible for administering and communicating benefit programs. Act as liaison between employees and insurance carriers to resolve benefit-related problems and ensure effective utilization of plans and positive employee relations. Participate in the development, recommendation and installation of new or modified plans and employee benefit policies and administers existing plans.

Pay: $30.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

Responsibilities:
  • Administer health and welfare benefit plans including, but not limited to: medical, dental, life, disability, retirement (401k) and supplemental programs.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws affecting group benefit management administration, including: ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, Section 125, Qualified Medical Child support Orders, Form 5500, USERRA and state regulations.
  • Administer all aspects of the leave of absence program; develop strong working relationships with vendors and third-party administrator (TPA) to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely claims administration and excellent customer service.
  • Partner with third party administrator (TPA) to oversee eligibility, tracking and reporting, ensuring compliance with FMLA and ADA and reasonable accommodation oversight. Track incident reporting and coordinate post-accident care and drug testing.
  • Oversee return to work program and collaborates with providers and managers on Return to Work status and modified duty requests. Collaborates on appropriate handling of benefits impacted by leaves of absence, return-to-work, and end-of-employment such as; medical, dental, life, and disability.
  • Advise and counsel employees and their dependents on existing benefits. Respond to benefit inquiries and complaints; monitor questions and requests from the HR Helpdesk. Process employee benefits in ADP.
  • Process resignation requests, track turnover metrics and reporting, and involuntary termination coordination with Regional HR Manager
  • Participate in the creation, design and implementation of comprehensive benefit communications
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years previous Benefits Administration experience
  • Understanding and experience with administering complex leaves of absence and reviewing reasonable accommodation requests
  • Knowledge of complex benefit design, administrative concepts and compliance requirements
  • Experience with oversite of Workers Compensation administration
  • Knowledge of ADP
  • Knowledge of healthcare trends and Hawaii laws regarding Benefits and Worker's compensation
  • Knowledge of Treasury and IRS rules or HSAs and high deductible health plans, flexible spending accounts
