Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese is seeking an HR Specialist to oversee day-to-day management, support and reporting for the HRIS system and payroll activities at our Abilene, TX facility. The role requires hands-on payroll administration, Kronos familiarity, and diligent compliance with state and federal HR regulations, with opportunities to support HR projects and maintain confidentiality across all processes.

You will collaborate with the VP of HR, coordinate workers' compensation and contribute to safety

Qualifications

• 2 years of HR experience or more.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP.
• General understanding of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain HRIS knowledge and ensure compliance with regulations; manage reporting.
• Administer weekly payroll using Kronos and resolve issues.
• Respond to inquiries regarding HRIS and payroll policies and procedures.
• Track HRIS reporting on tax credits, bonuses, wages, headcount and turnover.
• Administer and manage the Workers’ Compensation program.
• Assist VP of HR with projects.

Job description

The HR Specialist will oversee and provide day-to-day management, support and reporting for the HRIS system and facilitate the payroll activities.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
• Administer weekly payroll consistently and correctly.
• Rectify any payroll and Kronos issues.
• Respond to inquiries regarding HRIS and payroll policies, procedures, and programs.
• Track, maintain and complete HRIS reporting regarding tax credits, bonuses, hourly wages, headcount and turnover.
• Administer and manage the Workers Compensation program.
• Assist VP of HR with projects.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to review/update/have access to the compensation of employees in the organization. The expectation is that all employees in HR will not disclose any confidential information.
• All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.

Required Education and Experience

• Associate's degree or commensurate experience.
• 2 years of HR experience or more.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP.
• General understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Ability to make sound, independent decisions based on management expertise and experience.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve.

Preferred Education and Experience

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in an office setting.
• Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35°F to 100°F; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
