Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese is seeking an HR Specialist to oversee the HRIS and payroll activities in our Abilene, TX facility. You will administer weekly payroll, ensure regulatory compliance, and respond to HRIS inquiries, supporting reporting and improvements.

This role requires an Associate's degree, at least 2 years HR experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain confidentiality in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or commensurate experience.
  • 2 years of HR experience or more.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP.
  • General understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to make sound, independent decisions based on management expertise and experience.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Administer weekly payroll consistently and correctly.
  • Rectify any payroll and Kronos issues.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding HRIS and payroll policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Track, maintain and complete HRIS reporting regarding tax credits, bonuses, hourly wages, headcount and turnover.
  • Administer and manage the Workers Compensation program.
  • Assist VP of HR with projects.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.
  • All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.

Preferred Education and Experience
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in an office setting.
  • Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
