Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese seeks an experienced HR Manager to partner with plant management and oversee benefits, policies, and HR programs. You will communicate effectively with management and staff, champion HR compliance, and maintain confidential employee records.

Responsibilities include managing HRIS, onboarding, recruitment, discipline, timekeeping, and employee relations. A Bachelor’s in HR plus 5 years of HR experience is required; Master’s or HR certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years Human Resources experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

  • Maintain HRIS records in systems like SAP, Kronos, SuccessFactors, and E-Verify.
  • Coordinate company functions, meetings and fundraisers.
  • Consult with management on HR issues and educate employees on policies.
  • Review and track disciplines for consistency and proper steps.
  • Perform interviews, onboarding, and orientation prior to start date.
  • Work with staffing agencies to recruit employees.
  • Sign off on weekly timecards and manage attendance tracking.

Job Overview

The HR manager will partner with management at the plant to manage, administer and answers questions regarding company benefits, policies and procedures. The HR Manager will communicate effectively with management and employees, and represent the company in a positive/professional manner at all times.

Job Responsibilities
  • Accurately maintain/update Human Resource Information System records (e.g. SAP, Kronos, Success Factors, E-Verify, etc.)
  • Coordinate company functions, meetings and fundraisers.
  • Consult with management / supervisors / employees on company issues.
  • Communicate and educate employees at all levels on company's culture, policies and practices.
  • Review and track all disciplines to ensure correct step issued and consistency.
  • Accept applications, perform interviews, make recommendations and perform orientation prior to employee start date.
  • Work with staffing agency to recruit employees.
  • Sign off on weekly timecards through the timekeeping system.
  • Maintain attendance tracking system and assist in administering discipline as appropriate.
  • Order and distribute uniforms to employees.
  • Process paperwork / documentation, such as FMLA, enrollment forms, etc, completely and accurately.
    • Review FMLA paperwork, communicate with corporate any ADA possible accommodations or if fitness for duty is necessary.
  • Manage injured workers documentation; attend quarterly review of claims and hearings.
  • Assist and schedule employees for transitional work as needed.
  • Serve in the capacity of employee-company liaison for issues relating to employment.
  • Assist with compliance issues (e.g. OSHA logs, MSDS books, Affimative Action logs, Ethical Sourcing audits).
  • Work with all departments in implementing HR programs and manage the processes, policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for all documentation within employee files
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to review/update/have access to the compensation of employees in the organization. The expectation is that all employees in HR will not disclose any confidential information.
  • All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.
  • All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years Human Resources experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work for a company in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree and/or certification in Human Resources or a related field.
  • 5 or more years of Human Resources experience supporting a large manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to make decisions based on standard practices.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and high levels of professionalism.
  • HRIS experience (SAP SuccessFactors preferred).
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in an office setting.
  • Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35°F to 100°F; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
