Job summary

Clark Resources in the Chicagoland area seeks an experienced HR Manager to lead the HR function at a flagship manufacturing facility. This hands-on leader partners with plant leadership to manage employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, and workforce planning in a fast-paced environment.

The role drives compliance, training, and employee engagement, while coaching managers across hourly and salaried staff. A strong manufacturing HR background is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of progressive human resources experience.
  • HR leadership experience within a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, employee relations, performance management, and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence employees and leaders at all levels of an organization.
  • Experience supporting both hourly and salaried employee populations.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic responsibilities with hands-on HR support.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all human resources activities for the manufacturing facility.
  • Serve as a strategic HR partner and trusted advisor to plant leadership.
  • Develop and implement HR programs that support operational and organizational objectives.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, corrective actions, and performance concerns.
  • Coach managers and supervisors on leadership, employee relations, performance management, and company policies.
  • Oversee recruiting, onboarding, and retention initiatives for hourly and salaried employees.
  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning, organizational development, and succession planning.
  • Manage the performance review and employee development processes.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate leadership, compliance, and employee-development programs.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture focused on accountability, communication, safety, and employee engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation, and reporting.
  • Monitor HR metrics and recommend improvements related to turnover, retention, attendance, staffing, and employee engagement.
  • Partner with corporate HR and other company locations on broader HR initiatives and best practices.
  • Support change-management and continuous-improvement initiatives throughout the facility.

This highly visible position will serve as a strategic partner to plant leadership while overseeing day-to-day HR operations and supporting a diverse manufacturing workforce.
